Fred Reveals Reasons Behind Taking Back Sunday Split

Written by Vince Pettit | Tuesday, October 23, 2007 |

Fred MascherinoFormer Taking Back Sunday guitarist/singer Fred Mascherino has revealed he left the band as he didn’t like the direction the band was going in for its new album and future.

“There were just problems between the five of us about writing - who was going to do it and how we were going to do it,” Mascherino said. “We weren’t being very productive because we were fighting too much about that stuff.”

Mascherino said he decided during Taking Back Sunday’s recent Projekt Revolution tour that things weren’t going to get any better and that he needed to leave. The move turned his forthcoming album “Bend to Break,” which is released in the US on Oct 30th into a new full-time project.

The remaining members of Taking Back Sunday are working on the follow-up to ‘Louder Now’ which reached No. 2 on the Billboard album charts. Mascherino said the band was looking for someone to replace him on vocals.
