“Air Guitar starts off as a joke, but it becomes more than that: a sport, an art, a peace breaker.” And this is precisely what happens to your mindset when you watch ‘Air Guitar Nation’.
Air Guitar Nation is a documentary about the phenomenon, ‘Air Guitar’, that has taken over the globe from New York to Los Angeles and all the way to Northern Finland.
The film chronicles the personal journeys of two passionate – and dare I say it, talented – air guitarists both vying to become the first US World Air Guitar Champion.
David “Diddy” Jung and Dan “Bjorn Turoque” Crane battle it out on the East and West Coast of America before ‘airing’ it out in Finland with other champions. Starting out as a friendly contest in a New York strip club, it soon becomes a bloody battle of naked mock rock.
Directed by Alexandra Lipsitz, it is hilariously funny, full of passion, triumph, disappointment, patriotic spirit and political tension. It leaves you grinning like the cheshire cat and has you routing for your favourite air guitarist, even though you try all in your power not to.
WInner of SXSW Film Festival Audience Award, this takes stand-up comedy and mixes it with good old fashioned rock and roll.
Released in November, this is a must see. I have seen the future and the future is air.
