Marvel teased superhero fans with a Super Bowl TV spot for the upcoming Iron Man movie featuring Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark.
As you can see from the screenshot the ad shows Tony Stark testing the Iron Man flight system in his secret lab, surrounded by expensive gadgets and sports cars.
Iron Man is based on the long-running Marvel comic book series which tells the story of Tony Stark, the heir to the Stark Enterprises fortune. A driven inventor and executive who seems to have it all, but as with a lot of superheros, Tony is haunted by his dark side. Though he commands his empire by day, by night he secretly becomes Iron Man, the living embodiment of decades of defense spending and innovation. Strapping on billions of dollars worth of state-of-the-art armor and weaponry each night to fight crime, terrorism and corporate espionage, Tony begins to crack under the strain of his fractured lifestyle and must ultimately confront the one enemy he can never beat… himself.

In other Iron Man news William Hurt, who plays General Thaddeus Ross in Hulk, told MTV News on Friday that he has a scene with Downey in the upcoming film. Hurt described the scene as “funky,” though he couldn’t, or wouldn’t say anything more about it. He insists that the new Hulk is “stylistically, a completely different film (from Ang Lee’s 2003 version). They just don’t relate.”
Iron Man opens May 2, 2008 and features Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Jeff Bridges, Terrence Howard, and Shaun Toub, and is directed by Jon Favreau.

Iron Man was practically flawless as a super hero flick; it drops pretty obvious hints that would indicate a sequel as well… i’m thinking the next one should be equally great
