Written by Joanna Cole | Monday, February 4, 2008 |
Atonement and Harry Potter VI lead the list of nominations for the movie magazine’s awards.
Both films are up for 6 gongs at next months ceremony. The Best film award nominations are Zodiac, Bourne Ultimatum, Assassination of Jesse James and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. The awards are voted for by the readers and the ceremony will take place in London on the 9th March.
Atonement, which has already bagged 7 Oscar nominations and a whopping 14 Baftas, is shortlisted for Best British film alongside Hot Fuzz, Sunshine and This is England.
Stars of the war time drama, Keira Knightley and James McAvoy are up for Best actor and actress noms, while director Joe Wright and actress Saoirse Ronan also get nods.
The Order of The Phoenix cleans up with Best actor and actress awards going to Radcliffe and Watson. The film also gets a Best director nod and a best fantasy film nomination.
British Comic Simon Pegg also receives a Best actor nomination along with Matt Damon, and 300 star Gerard Butler. Editor of the magazine Mark Dinning said: “Once again, it is a fascinating and exciting list of nominees. That sophisticated films like Atonement and Zodiac can rub up against blockbusters like 300 and Transformers proves that cinema audiences are a terrific judge of movies.”
The awards are to be hosted by comic Rob Brydon and will take place at the Grosvenor House Hotel on the 9th March.
