Spider-man Enemy Venom Gets Second Shot At Big Screen
Written by Vince Pettit | Monday, February 4, 2008 |
After a rather disappointing show in Spider-man 3, Venom is set to be given a second chance of glory on the big screen!
IESB.net have confirmed with Marvel that ‘the studio’ will be moving forward with a stand alone film and have already met with several ‘A List Writers’ about the spin-off.
The theatrical rights to Venom have been held by New Line Cinema for eight years, but since then they have reverted back to Marvel. It’s unknown if Sony has complete control over the character since he was part of Spiderman 3 or if they only have distribution rights. As there has been recent news about this film, we can only assume that Marvel hold the rights due to the interm deal with the WGA, allowing the project to go ahead during the current strike.
Some other character names that have been thrown around for this film include Scorpion and Carnage…It looks to be an interesting project that we’ll definitely be keeping an eye on!!
