Don’t Get Me Wrong (Lily Allen)

Written by Joanna Cole | Friday, February 8, 2008 |

Lily AllenThis week I headed to Radio One’s 40th anniversary record for my cover of the week. Now that album has a lot of rubbish on it, Pigeon Detectives doing ‘Power Of Love’ was terrible, Mcfly ruin a Jam classic and I just don’t know why they put James Morrison on there.

However, Lily Allen shines through by picking a song that seems made for her quirky voice. The top 10 single from The Pretenders 1986 album ‘Get Close’ was a huge hit in both the UK and the US.

Lily doesn’t rework the original in any way, it is in theory a very good karaoke attempt but there’s more to it then that. Lily has a beautifully pure voice and there was nothing she could have done to celebrate the song more.

The video below is from YouTube and therefore we cannot guarantee how long it will be available for.

Keep checking back for the next cover of the week . . . . . . . . .

McFly ruin a Jam song?
I dont think so, just because you might not like mcfly doesnt mean you should say theyve ruined!
I personally think its better than the original!

Mcfly are awesome and hugely talented but that Jam cover was poor. Their Springsteen cover however; WOW!
