As the champagne bottles are thrown, the celebs have cleared the red carpet and London Fashion Week has finally drawn to a close, we look back at the highs ( PPQ’s prom dresses) and the lows (funky patterned leggings aren’t going anywhere) of the past 6 days.

LFW opened on Sunday with Sir Stuart Rose and Sarah Brown introducing the new chairman of the British Fashion Council, Harold Tillman. Fashion week started extremely strong with Biba and Jaeger London impressing the hoards of fashionistas on Sunday.

Biba’s show in the ballroom at Claridges began the trend seen throughout the week - LEGS. They were out everywhere this week and Biba teamed them with ultra short voluminous minis and sheer black tights. Sharp black minis were softened with cute ‘cardi - jumper’ combos. We particularly love this bright red patterned two piece, the bold patterns of our summer wardrobe are obviously carrying on throughout the winter months.

biba-skirt.jpgAfter 125 yrs in the fashion industry Jaeger London finally made their runway debut this week, and we haven’t a clue why they waited so long . . . it was stunning! Giant snakeskin print leggings were teamed with soft flowing shift dresses of canary yellow. We were especially drawn to the soft felt knits. TREND ALERT - grandad knits, soft, long, comfy cardies. Just what you need for the winter months.

Monday brought the Fash Pack out in their droves, as trendy Mayfair label PPQ showed early on in the day. The brand, who have become a signature fashonista label over the past year, showed beautiful multicoloured mini dresses, tiered prom dresses and cropped leather jackets, gorgeously trimmed in PPQ badges.

Showing just before Paul Smith, New Gen winner Louise Goldin displayed a very youthful collection, with armoured cashmere sweater dresses, beetle - like, Swarovski encrusted shoulders and geometric prints highlighted in neon peach. After the wear-ability of many of the shows it was nice to see so much creativity and experimentation from such a young designer.

Again legs were out in force at the shows and black was the staple colour for most collections. Jaeger teamed their styles with very dark near black lips and sheer black tights. A look spotted on many stars during the week, including Lily Allen as she lined the runway with friends Kelly Osbourne, the Geldof girls and Kimberly Stewart.

More celebs turned out for Tuesdays shows. Erin O’Connor, Yasmin Le Bon, and Topshop boss Phillip Green watched another New Gen winner Christopher Kane. His paillette decked designs, with dropped hemlines and 40’s inspired dresses, stunned crowds who are more used to Kanes love of body con. Using paillettes on everything, even trousers proved a huge hit and we bloody love these sequin bedecked skinnies.

Betty Jackson showed a really wearable range, unstructured and comfortable. We loved the Henry VIII detail and can’t wait to see that trend pop up everywhere.

House Of Holland A/W 08 LFWAgyness Deyn and Henry Holland. The ever eccentric duo showed how to make tartan cool, with Deyn donning a tartan tiered wedding dress with matching antlers and eye patch.

With Holland taking to the runway solo this year the Fashion East collab. was left as Niko, Louise Gray and David Saunders of David + David. Pixie Geldof sat cheering on the trendy trio as they displayed exactly what London will be wearing this A/W. The showcase couldn’t be any cooler, graphic designs, bright colours and wearable trends - this is most definitely the scenesters collection.

Other designers including Giles and Gareth Pugh displayed after Fashion East.

Thursday was an exceptional day, which raised the standard at LFW. With Vivienne Westwoods Red Label returning to the catwalk, Asprey and Luella all parading their A/W 08 ranges, star after star poured in to the shows. Cuba Gooding Jr, Lily Allen, Pixie Geldof, Kelly Osbourne and Kimberley Stewart watched Westwood close the show with her classic punky tailoring. The stars watched Jamie Winston, daughter of Ray Winston, make her modelling debut alongside other top London models including Daisy Lowe.

Luella gathered the Fash Pack together at the Claridges ballroom once again for their folk inspired collection. With blue and peach colours dominating the runway, Luella showcased peasant blouses, gingham shirt dresses and black lace prom dresses.

Dark lips is an obvious TREND alert, popping up all week, as well as the prom dress. Championed by Lily Allen the dress has got shorter and a lot sassier. Betsey Johnson for S/S examples as well.

Closing LFW on the Friday was Julien MacDonald, who turned the Hilton ballroom in to a winter wonderland inspired by his extravagant young Russian clientele.

With grey, white and black cable knit sweaters, fur, gold sequined shifts and gorgeous dashes of orange meant this show was simply stunning. Our particular favourites have to be the beautiful girly tailoring and this amazing feathered bandeau dress. Notice the legs out again. We’re in for a chilly winter girls.

Madrid Fashion Week begins this weekend, carrying on the international designer catwalk season.
