Ricky Wilson Slates Brit Awards
Written by Vince Pettit | Tuesday, February 19, 2008 |
Kaiser Chiefs front-man Ricky Wilson has slated the Brit awards after ‘Ruby’ didn’t make the shortlist for the British Single Of The Year.
The band were on the original list that went to public vote, but unfortunately for the Kaisers they didn’t make the cut. Other actss that didn’t make it were Mutya Buena, James Blunt, Kate Nash and Sugababes.
The singer told BBC 6Music: “Everyone knows ‘Ruby’ is the best single, if you are gonna whittle them down to five, you’d think ‘Ruby’ would be in there wouldn’t you?”
The five tracks that were chosen are by Hoosiers, Mika, Take That, Leona Lewis and Mark Ronson.
Wilson explained: “They’ve all got their merits, but I am just a bit annoyed.”
Kaiser Chiefs are still up for Best British Live Act and Best British Group
The tracks nominated for British Single Of The Year are:
The Hoosiers – ‘Worried About Ray’
Leona Lewis – ‘Bleeding Love’
Mark Ronson – ‘Valerie’ (featuring Amy Winehouse)
Mika – ‘Grace Kelly’
Take That – ‘Shine’
