So I think we’ve established that this section should now be renamed, ‘Jo’s favourite songs of the week’. But hey lets roll with the cheese. . . so for this week I continue the Tina splurge.
‘Simply The Best’ or ‘The Best’ as it’s often called, a hit for Tina Turner in 1989, it reached number 5 in the UK and went top 10 in a huge array of countries around the world.
It is often heard being sung by very drunk middle aged woman at around 1am when their husbands have pulled them from the locals karaoke machine. I am almost ashamed to admit that at only 20 years old, hardly middle aged, I am that woman. Strutting along the dance floor as if I had the pins of the legend.
Now researching for this weeks article I found out that this song was not an original track for Turner but a year earlier our own Welsh lass Bonnie Tyler roared the throaty song out to the masses.
As this is cover of the week I really should play the cover, as I cheated last week and threw the original in. So here it is. Get your hair brushes out and start strutting!
