Lady Fortune - 12 O’Clock, Nearly 1 O’Clock, Hurry Up

Written by David Moss | Thursday, March 6, 2008 |

Lady FortuneThe latest offering from Telford-based Lady Fortune, 12 O’Clock, Nearly 1 O’Clock, Hurry Up seems to be about the usual subject…problems with love. The twang from their guitars doesn’t make this a typical love song however. A nice rolling thrash from the drummer on occasion makes a small contrast from these somewhat emotional lyrics and transforms the song into an upbeat ballad.

“You’re driving round the city when you really should’ve stayed in bed…Well it is such a pity ‘cause probably never see her again” This is an infectious line from the chorus. You should be listening in wonder when you hear this track and at least tapping your toes. It’s got lovely lyrics and it’s a cheesy cheerful song.

‘Tigers’ is the B-side and is much more chilled but for the chorus it does change into a fast-paced track. I’m not surprised that they have supported bands like The Young Knives and The Automatic, as these songs are perfect to warm a crowd up. This is a great single and you can tell that they definitely deserve more recognition. Fans of the late Larrikin Love, Maccabees or the Mystery Jets would love this indie anthem.
