No longer relied upon for the simple function of telling the time, due to my never being without a mobile phone, I have long since shunned the watch in favour of some prettier arm candy- like a bangle. However, the watch, as a fashion item, has been having a massive resurgence of late.
I have been hankering after a heavy man’s style timepiece for some time now. Edgier than a bangle, a watch has a certain gentlemanly elegance about it that seems to me to be the perfect partner for this summer’s softer dresses.
And apparently the very same thought has been on the minds of the fashion pack this season. Cutting edge watch designers, STORM, tell me that a stampede of women have been buying up the men’s styles to achieve a chunkier look. And the demand certainly seems to have been reflected in their collections this season.
Oversized triple twisted chain bracelets, flawlessly chic wide bangle straps, heavy links and huge faces, are just a few of the striking details that have caught my eye.
And if watches aren’t your thing, there’s plenty more on offer from STORM to tempt you… STORM has become quite the accessories emporium with an amazing selection of bags, eyewear, jewellery, wallets and umbrellas. They have also just launched their first fragrances and are planning to expand the collection of accessories in the near future.
And the boys needn’t feel left out. Gadgetry seems to have been the inspiration for the new men’s watch collection. Futuristic design and the finest instrumentation combine to make the sharpest and most innovative timepieces around. Brushed steel camera-style shutters will make you feel like you’re a special agent in a Bond movie and features such as 50 metres water resistance will mean that you can act like you are too.
Just a word of advice though boys, get along to STORM before the girls have nabbed all the best styles first…
