Stars Line Up For New DreamWorks Animation

Written by Ruari Burgham | Tuesday, March 18, 2008 |

America FerraraThe next DreamWorks CGI project, ‘How To Train Your Dragon‘ has certainly stirred up enough interest from some of Hollywood’s freshest talent. Jay Baruchel (Almost Famous), America Ferrera (Ugly Betty), Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz Plasse (Superbad) and Gerard Butler (300) have all signed on to voice characters for the upcoming family fantasy.

The film is based on the first instalment of Cressida Cowell’s series of novels, about a boy who is lumbered with a small, disobedient dragon. The boy (Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third) will be voiced by Baruchel, whilst Gerard Butler (who played the very loud King Leonidas in 300) will be playing the chief of their Viking tribe, a role Butler is immensely well suited to play.

Other roles for this plethora of talent include Ferrera as Hiccup’s initiation partner, Hill as an ambitious bully and Mintz-Plasse as a large, but not so well mentally endowed, Viking. If this sounds exciting to you, I’m afraid there’s a long wait as this movie is not slated for release until 2010.
