Michael Cera’s Little Life

Written by Ruari Burgham | Wednesday, March 19, 2008 |

Michael CeraIt seems at the moment that you can’t leave the house without seeing Michael Cera’s face about, and I for one don’t think that’s a bad thing. Cera’s screen-stealing performances in recent, soon-to-be-cult classics Juno and Superbad have meant Cera rarely gets a day off.

His latest role looks as if it could be in romantic adventure ‘Scott Pilgrim’s Little Life’, for which he is in final negotiations with Universal Pictures. In the movie, Cera will be, yet again, playing a bit of a slacker who must battle, and defeat, the evil ex-boyfriends of the woman of his dreams. She must be quite a girl.

The movie itself is based on volume one of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s ‘Scott Pilgrim’ graphic novel series, and is being written/directed by Edgar Wright (Hot Fuzz/Shaun of the Dead) so it ought to be irreverently hilarious. You’re in for a long wait, however, as the studio is thinking about starting in the Autumn. No worries though, Cera is currently filming ‘Year One’ with Jack Black, which hits screens in June ‘09
