New acts added to Melt! Festival
Written by Suzanne Bunce | Thursday, March 20, 2008 |
Set in a peninsula against a remarkable backdrop of five towering mining diggers, Melt! Festival is returning for an 11th year and is set to be an unforgettable experience. Acts that have been newly confirmed include Björk, Roisin Murphy, Kate Nash, Battles, Does It Offend You, Yeah?, Friendly Fires, Hercules and Love Affair, The Wombats and Whitest Boy Alive.
The festival will be taking place in Ferropolis, Germany, on July 18th – 20th and will have over 80 live acts and DJs performing over 6 stages. Melt! features all kinds of music, from guitars to beatboxes, and it will have indie kids, new ravers and hip hoppers dancing side by side. Every day of the festival will see the fun start in the afternoon and carry on until the small hours of the morning.
Melt! is a well established European festival and has been voted as the most popular open air event by readers of top German music and style magazines Intro, Groove and De:Bug. Mike Skinner of The Streets has described the festival as “quite possibly my favourite festival”, whilst We Are Scientists have said: “Melt! has definitely one of the best line-ups ever. Great booker! Dear booker, please book us again!”.
The Sunday of the festival is a new addition for this year. It will have a limited capacity of 12,000 people and will end at approximately 11pm, after Björk’s performance. It has been recommended by the festival organisers that festival goers should choose one of the three ticket categories as soon as possible. On the Friday and Saturday, Melt! will take place in its normal form, with a maximum capacity of 20,000 visitors.
The complete festival line up so far is:
Alter Ego // Battles // Björk* // Booka Shade // Boys Noize // Burger/Voigt // Cobblestone Jazz // Crookers // dEUS** // Does It Offend You, Yeah? // Editors // Efdemin // Ellen Allien // Franz Ferdinand* // Friendly Fires // Fujiya & Miyagi // Gui Boratto // Gus Gus // Hercules And Love Affair // Kate Nash // Kissy Sell Out // Klee // Len Faki // Mathew Jonson // The Mitchell Brothers // Miss Kittin & The Hacker** // Modeselektor // Renato Ratier // Sascha Funke // Stereo MC`s // Supermayer // Róisín Murphy // The Teenagers // Tobias Thomas // Tomas Andersson // Turbostaat // Uffie & Feadz // The Whitest Boy Alive // The Wombats
