The Enemy Claim Astoria To Be Saved
Written by David Moss | Thursday, April 3, 2008 |
During a series of gigs at London’s Astoria on the sixth night out of seven, The Enemy proclaimed that the venue could be saved from demolition as vocalist Tom Clarke heard a rumour that the owners have signed a new lease on the building so that it could remain for the next five years.
Based on the crowds’ reaction to these performances which included most of the songs from their debut album ‘We’ll live and die in these towns’, it shows that the venue is still as popular as ever, especially since a band can play to massive numbers in consecutive days.
After playing their main set, the Coventry-based band surprised everyone by playing the classic track ‘God Save the Queen’ by punk-rockers Sex Pistols. They will be playing a homecoming gig on the 5th and 6th of April at the Ricoh Arena (Coventry City FC).
