Friday The 13th Lead Announced

The Unlucky lady in question for the lead role in Marcus Nispel’s (director of 2003s horror remake ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’) upcoming redoing of slasher classic Friday the 13th is Amanda Righetti, who many of you will recognise as Hailey Nichol in the absurdly popular ‘The OC’. Righetti is in final negotiations to play the lead role, and filming should begin soon in Austin, Texas.
Derek Mears (The Hills Have Eyes II) has already been cast as the terrifying villain of the movie, Jason Voorhees (seriously, look at this pic and tell me you wouldn’t be well scared). Speculation as to how this film is going to end up is already rife across horror-geek message boards all over the net. What do you think? Is Righetti a little bit TOO good looking for the role? Who knows. Predictably, the film is set for release in Friday the 13th of February 2009.
