New Acts Set To Lounge On The Farm
Written by Suzanne Bunce | Monday, April 7, 2008 |
A host of new acts including Lightspeed Champion, The Bees, Findlay Brown, The Shortwave Set, The Bookhouse Boys, Caged Baby and Filthy Dukes have been added to the line - up of Lounge On The Farm Festival. The festival is set to take place at Merton Farm in Kent from the 11th - 13th July.
Lightspeed Champion, fronted by Dev Hynes of Test Icicles, have a radically different sound to his previous band. Encompassing folk and indie - rock, and with a live band often featuring indie royalty such as Faris Rotter, Jack Penate and Emmy The Great, this band are a must see. The Bees are making a return to Lounge On The Farm this year, after pulling off a riotous performance in the Cow Shed last year. Having befriended the Lounge On The Farm mob, The Bees have promised to bring more festival magic back with them this year, and they are guaranteed to be one of the highlights of the weekend.
Another new addition to the line up is surf rockers The Bookhouse Boys, who have 9 members, including 2 drummers, and are sure to provide a high - energy set. Troubadour Findlay Brown will also be performing live, with his folk - tinged psyche country tunes. Gnarls Barkley’s Dangermouse has a new favourite band, The Shortwave Set, and they are also making an appearance at LOTF. The band have received recognition from Radio 1, The Observer, The Times and The Culture show for their brilliant brand of psychedelic pop, and are another act not to be missed.
There is more than enough already on this line - up to keep all the indie kids happy, but LOTF caters for more than just that. There is a sterling line - up for all fans of dance music, with DJ sets confirmed from Dexy’s Midnight Runners legend Kevin Rowland, Jon Carter, The Dub Pistols Sound System, Cagedbaby and Filthy Dukes. All of these acts are guaranteed to keep up the energy and keep the party going all weekend.
Lounge On The Farm is a festival that gives up - and - coming acts (past hits have included Underground Heroes and The Onlookers) a chance to play alongside some of the most coveted acts from the indie world. Not only does it have a fantastic line - up but it also has numerous other attractions to keep you busy all weekend. The Village Green will supply you with beer, cider and food, all of which are sourced from within a 20 - mile radius of the festival site; The Little Lounge and The Red Tent are available to keep younger festival - goers thoroughly entertained, and The School Of Rock will be hunting down Kent’s future stars.
