The Wave Pictures To Release Debut Album
Written by Suzanne Bunce | Wednesday, April 23, 2008 |
The Wave Pictures are set to release their debut album, “Instant Coffee Baby”, on May 5th through Moshi Moshi records.
The band, comprising Dave Tattersall, Franic Rozycki and Jonny Helm, have already attracted some impressive press attention, with The Guardian saying “The Wave Pictures are currently conjuring some of the most gleeful, magnificent pop in town” and Time Out saying they have “Extraordinary musical and lyrical confidence”. They also have a fan in the shape of Plan B, who says “They ably knock out classic, literate, oven ready song after song, filled with delightful and intricate musical and lyrical twists”.
Recorded in the basement of The Duke of Uke music shop on Hanbury Road, East London, with its seductively shabby love songs, timeless lyrics, and hints of early blues and country records, “Instant Coffee Baby” is irresistible.
The next single from the album, “Strange Fruit For David“, is due out on April 28th, and the band will be touring the UK from the end of April. Dates are as follows:
