Past, Present and Future : Digitalism

Influenced by the likes of Daft Punk and movie soundtracks, German electro house duo digitalism are on the way up, having remixed tracks for Tom Vek, The Futureheads, Daft Punk, Tiga, Klaxons, White Stripes, Monk, Depeche Mode, Cut Copy and many others, including a re-edit of “Fire in Cairo” by The Cure (entitled “Digitalism in Cairo“). Their tracks and remixes are also played by DJs such as Erol Alkan, Soulwax, Boys Noize and Justice, among others. We spoke to the digitalism boys about past, present and future, here is what they had to say…

Past

Briefly, how and when did you get into the music scene?

We met at a record store, that was our initial touch with the scene. Right after school Jence started jobbing there and Isi was a frequent customer. The store was for DJs in particular, selling House and Garage and Techhouse. That’s how we started Djing and that’s where everything started for us.

How was 2008 been so far?

The year was really good so far, we played a couple of long tours in the US Japan and Germany, finished a new live show and received lots of very good reactions.

Who has been your favourite DJs and producers of 2008?

So far, Erol Alkan and Proxy
