Past, Present and Future : Juptier One
Written by Vince Pettit | Monday, June 30, 2008 |

It seems the Brooklyn is the place to be for up and coming bands this year, so we spoke to Zac from Brooklyn based Jupiter One, a band that will be hitting the UK very soon.
They will also be releasing their single Platform Moon on 7th July and their debut eponymous album on 14th July on Cordless Recordings.
Past
Briefly, how and when did you get into the music scene?
I was born into music. My Dad’s a sax player and there were musicians around a lot. The rest of the guys have also been musicians since early on. We don’t have any of those ‘i dropped out of art school cuz my friends needed a singer’ types that make for such a good story.
Describe your style in 3 words
Music for You
How was 2008 been so far?
Pretty awesome actually since we spent a good deal of it on the road. That’s our favorite thing to do- play every night. Also, we’ve written another record in the meantime. So, phew!
Who has been your favourite bands of 2008?
That’s too hard to answer. I’ll definitely say we’ve listened to a few new ones in our van relentlessly - LCD Soundsystem, Spoon, Sound Team (new EP), The Presets, Gnarles Barkley, Neon Neon, Foals, Does It Offend You Yeah?, Sigur Ros, Travis, Air, Your Vegas, The Beatles, Shuggie Otis… plus some great Brooklyn bands like Apes and Androids, The Naked Hearts, the Hot Left…
Present
What are you up to at the moment?
I’m eating oatmeal and having coffee. The band’s been taking it easy for the summer but we’ll be rehearsing for some big shows here in New York City before our album is released, when we’ll get back on tour and develop some new material. We’re also very excited about the prospect of getting to record some more.
Who are you listening to at the moment?
As we speak - Parliament-Funkadelic
What do you do when you’re not gigging?
Pretty much just freak out in NYC. I love going to see bands here in the LES where you’re bound to be inspired. Also, seeing my friends is Precious Time since we’ll be away soon again, I’m sure.
Where can people get your tunes?
We sell it ourselves at shows. itunes carries it. The album (plus 2 bonus tracks) is coming out in stores in the UK in July and the US in August. Myspace is also a great place to hear the music (we check it ourselves everyday) and sometimes there are songs available to download. Or you could just have your hot friend burn our cd for you.
Future
What do you have planned for the rest of 2008?
More touring!!! Demo a new album!!! Drinking and Dancing!!!
Who do you think will be the next big thing this year?
Jupiter One of course. And the year after that.
