Chris Bailey brings the New Year into full bloom with his Spring/Summer 2009 Burberry Prorsum campaign, fronted by British model and English Rose Lily Donaldson. Lily, who has also graced advertisements for designers such as Balenciaga, Roberto Cavalli, Lanvin and Valentino, is a perfect choice for such a campaign. In keeping with Baileys “flower pot girls” the shoot took place in the beautiful surrounds of Petersham Nurseries in Richmond upon Thames. The collection encompasses classic trenches, ruffle hem dresses, and fine knit cardigans.
Bailey explains: “This campaign reflects the true heritage of Burberry outerwear, the iconic check and our British attitude”. The style, along with the muted autumnal tones, has a quintessentially British feel, so it is of no surprise that photographer Mario Testino will be shooting Lily alongside an all British cast including models Alexia Graham, Richard Wyndham and Eden Clarke, as well as musicians Sam Beeton and George Craig, actor Alex Pettyfer and up and coming photographer Emily Hope. The campaign hits the covers of UK magazines: – Esquire, Harpers Bazaar and GQ in February as well as the covers of Vanity Fair, Vogue and W in the US.
