Feeling peckish while trying on you latest designer buys? This problem has been solved by the Trendy Manhattan boutique 1929 who are currently offering a free bowl of soup and coffee with every purchase! The store sells the work of independent designers on its ground floor. The basement is an art and performance space where the free nourishment is doled out.

With the world wide recession making dent in all our pockets, a free meal, though a small incentive, saves you buying yourself a panini and coffee in an overpriced coffee shop and makes us one step closer to our designer staple for this season.  Store manager Aaron Genuth claims that he was inspired by the great depression of the 1930’s and his partner Levi Okunov says they want people to go to the store, have a bowl of soup and try on some clothing.

This is a temporary shop and is set to remain open throughout the next month over the festive season!

Maybe some of the shops in our towns and cities should take a leaf out of Aarons book, after all, it couldn’t come at a better time! This is certainly the most glamorous soup kitchen in NYC!
