RLE - The Biggest Waste of 33 minutes

Monday, May 5, 2008 | No Comments »

The expectations surrounding the rather uniquely titled “The Biggest Waste of 33 minutes” - the latest offering from indie-disco artist “Razmataz Lorry Excitement‘ - are high considering last year’s support slot with the Klaxons and an album tipped by the NME. The provocative title certainly seems to suggest that this track is an effort to meet these expectations and prove something to the critics (from whence the title came). | Full Article »

SchwaB - The Wallet

Monday, May 5, 2008 | No Comments »

There is something distinctly charming to be found in the underproduced feel of the new single from london three-piece ‘SchwaB‘, which is confidently reaffirmed by the subject matter of “The Wallet” - a song which offers a fairly comic approach to the trials of living in East London. With their 2007 debut album recieving airplay on XFM and BBC Radio6, the band are set to make some headway this year, and this download only single (released on May 6th) is certainly a good way to start. | Full Article »

“F*cking Bananaasssss” Meet Ungdomskulen

Wednesday, April 2, 2008 | No Comments »

Just as it seemed the music scene was a dying thing, Norwegian trio Ungdomskulen, influenced by the likes of Sonic Youth, Frank Zappa and The Talking Heads, unhurriedly began their assailment of the current commercial music climate. A tour with the Young Knives under their new-wave belts and a single, ‘Modern Drummer’, which clambers through 6 minutes of post-punk ingenuity, firmly validates this band as one of the most exciting prospects for saving our music scene from collapsing completely. We caught up with the band to see exactly how they plan on retaining such potential. | Full Article »

Gabriella Cilmi - Sweet About Me

Friday, March 14, 2008 | No Comments »

Gabriella CilmiWith a lethargic beat and soul inspired instrumental, the vocals on Gabriella Cilmi’s debut single Sweet about me (released on March 10th) are left to flourish of their own accord.

Airplay across major radio stations such as Radio One, a session on Radio 6’s acclaimed “the hub” and a TV performance on later with Jools Holland sees Cilmi set to be one of the emerging talents of 2008 - the track’s soulful allusions and strong solo female vocal follows in the footsteps of the likes of Amy Winehouse and Duffy, a direction that the music industry seems to be leaning towards if their success is anything to go by. | Full Article »
